😃 I have a very good experience with the support team. I was having a problem with getting my database setup and uploading. I received a quick response, I would like to recommend bravenet to others also I find Big Rock, Domain Racer, and In motion good in terms of support.

😠 Bravenet advertises 'unlimited bandwidth' but this is a lie. Unknownst to the user, they put what they call 'soft limits' on your bandwidth usage, so if you go over that they will, without notice, take your sites down for being 'over bandwidth'. You have to contact them (via online support ticket--there is no 'live' help, telephone number, etc) and have them fix your sites. Even then (if you can finally get a response from anyone), all they do is make sure you're not 'abusing' (their mysterious determination) and then increase your 'soft limit' incrementally. So next month you may go over again, they shut your sites down, you have to contact them again, etc. Bravenet's 'unlimited bandwidth' is a lie and the company is a clown show. I was a customer for 15+ years but finally got tired of their excuses, lies and abuse. Good riddance.

😠 I used Bravenet for a couple of items... Guest book and Discussion board.
The discussion board was being used... I had checked in on it.
Bravenet decides to just extinguish years of comments and information.
If you care about a good relationship with a provider.. Bravenet isn't the one you want.
Stay away and chalk it off as a discussion board that just doesn't care about you.

(3*) 🔧 Services: Web HostingDomain RegistrationWebsite Builder⇔ Redirected domains: bravehost.com bravenetmarketing.com bravenetmedia.com
Bravenet is a long-running Canadian web services company based in Parksville, British Columbia, created in the late 1990s by Dave Shworan. It started as a collection of online tools for webmasters and gradually evolved into a full platform that bundles shared web hosting, an integrated site builder, domain registration, email hosting, email marketing and a wide range of small add-on utilities such as contact forms, guestbooks, forums, hit counters, calendars and photo albums.
The main hosting offer is Linux shared hosting marketed under the BraveHost name. The lineup is structured into three primary tiers – Basic, Advanced and Corporate. All of them run on PHP with MySQL, include at least one database, support common applications like WordPress, Joomla and phpBB, and provide FTP access plus a control panel for managing files, email and databases. Even the entry plan gives enough features to run a small genuine website rather than a "demo" project. Higher-tier plans raise storage, bandwidth, the number of websites, databases and email accounts, so it is practical to start small and scale up within the same environment.
Bravenet’s strategy is to be an all-in-one place for small sites rather than a high-end server provider. Instead of VPS and dedicated servers, the platform leans into its SiteBlocks drag-and-drop builder and integrated tools. SiteBlocks lets users build responsive sites with pre-made layouts, commerce options, galleries, blogs and built-in analytics. Recently they added BraveAI to the builder and hosting environment, allowing users to generate page copy and other content from within the interface, which can be handy for non-writers.
On the domain side, BraveDomains offers registration and management for a broad range of TLDs. A notable plus is that WHOIS privacy is bundled at no extra cost, along with DNS management, domain forwarding, nameserver control and basic theft protection. This setup suits people who want domains and hosting on the same account without giving up control over DNS or being upsold privacy as a separate product.
Email is treated as a first-class service. Bravenet sells email hosting on custom domains with IMAP/POP3/SMTP access, SSL/TLS, spam and virus filtering, aliases, group addresses and a full webmail interface. On top of regular mailboxes they also offer email marketing features such as mailing lists and newsletters, so small businesses can manage both their website and outbound campaigns in one place.
Overall, Bravenet is a feature-rich, budget-minded shared hosting and website platform aimed at individuals, freelancers and small organizations that prefer convenience, integrated tools and a single vendor, rather than piecing together hosting, domains, email and site builder from multiple providers.
💰 Price & Cost
Bravenet’s shared hosting plans are priced in US dollars (USD) and stay in the lower end of the market. The Basic plan usually sits in the low single digits per month and is intended for one smaller site with modest disk space and bandwidth. The Advanced plan adds capacity for more sites, higher storage and larger traffic allowances, while Corporate is designed for users running multiple projects or heavier traffic with significantly more resources and email accounts. All tiers include FTP access, at least one MySQL database, one-click installers and access to the site builder.
Domain pricing is pitched as "low member rates" rather than heavily discounted teaser offers. While there is no big price grid displayed alongside the hosting packages, the inclusion of free WHOIS privacy effectively lowers the total cost compared with registrars that bill for privacy separately. For someone managing a small number of domains, that can make a noticeable difference over a few years.
In terms of payments, Bravenet accepts the common options: Visa, Mastercard and PayPal, and for some situations can work with US-dollar money orders or cheques. Everything is billed in USD, which keeps the pricing simple but means international customers will see currency conversion on their side.
There is a 30-day money-back guarantee on hosting and "Pro" services. If a new user cancels within that window, they can request a refund for hosting fees. As is standard in the industry, domain registrations, renewals and transfers are not refundable. For someone testing the waters, that 30-day period gives a reasonable opportunity to decide if the platform fits without being locked in.
🏢 Data Center
Hosting runs on Bravenet cloud servers using PHP and MySQL, and the platform performs nightly filesystem snapshots along with daily MySQL backups. For a shared hosting provider in this price band, having that level of built-in backup is a meaningful safeguard, especially for small businesses that might otherwise neglect their own backup routines.
The company backs its hosting with a 99.9% uptime guarantee. Exact datacenter locations are not emphasised on marketing pages, but uptime and backup practices are clearly part of the core message. For typical personal or small business sites, that combination of an uptime commitment and frequent backups is usually sufficient, provided the user does not expect enterprise-grade SLAs or global multi-region redundancy.
Bravenet notes that customer data can be processed or stored in Canada and other jurisdictions as needed, which aligns with their Canadian base while acknowledging the use of additional infrastructure where required. For users who specifically prefer a Canadian vendor and data-handling framework, this can be a subtle but relevant consideration.
✍️ Customer Support
Support is routed through the Bravenet Help Center, which combines documentation and ticketing in one place. Users can browse topic-based articles on hosting, domains, SiteBlocks, email and the classic web tools, then open a support ticket directly from the account when they need individual assistance.
The company describes their assistance as "world-class support" and presents a visible team page showing staff in operations, development, customer service and marketing. This gives the impression of a focused, relatively small team rather than an anonymous call center. Day-to-day, customers primarily interact via online tickets and self-help articles; there is no clear emphasis on phone or live chat support for hosting accounts.
For users who are comfortable with written communication and a knowledge-base-driven approach, this model works well. It keeps support structured, traceable and asynchronous, which many technically minded customers actually prefer. On the other hand, people who want to pick up the phone for every issue may find this setup less convenient.
🔨 Control Panel
Bravenet uses its own Hosting Manager rather than widely known panels like cPanel or Plesk. The Hosting Manager pulls together domain, email, FTP/SSH, databases, DNS and statistics into one interface. The layout is geared towards multi-site management, which is handy for users who run several smaller websites on a single account and want to switch between them quickly.
For email administration, there is a dedicated Email Manager plus a webmail portal. Through these tools, users can create and manage mailboxes, aliases, distribution groups and server-side filters, and then connect via IMAP/POP3/SMTP from desktop or mobile clients. The experience is designed to make Bravenet feel like a central hub for both websites and mail for a small organization.
The SiteBlocks builder sits on top of this as an extra layer for those who prefer not to work directly with files and code. It offers drag-and-drop sections, design presets, responsive layouts, e-commerce blocks, blog modules and basic SEO settings. For many non-technical customers, this builder effectively replaces the control panel as their main working environment, with Hosting Manager and its tools sitting behind the scenes for more advanced tasks.
🎯 Conclusion
Bravenet stands out as a long-standing, small-team Canadian provider that concentrates on shared hosting and integrated web services rather than trying to cover every possible hosting tier. Its strengths are clear: easy-to-understand shared plans, an in-house control panel, a capable drag-and-drop site builder, bundled WHOIS privacy for domains, solid email hosting, email marketing tools and a library of classic web widgets – all under one login. The 99.9% uptime commitment, nightly snapshots, daily database backups and 30-day money-back guarantee provide a safety net that is more than adequate for most personal, club and small business sites. For someone who wants to launch a website, manage a mailing list and keep everything in a single, reasonably priced account, Bravenet offers a convenient package.
There are, however, some limitations. Power users who demand full server control, root access, VPS or dedicated machines will find the platform too narrow. The proprietary Hosting Manager may feel restrictive to those used to cPanel, and the lack of clearly advertised real-time phone or chat channels might be a drawback for users who rely heavily on live support. Transparency on physical datacenter locations is modest compared with more infrastructure-oriented providers.
In short, Bravenet is a strong fit for individuals, freelancers and small organizations that value integrated tools, simplicity and low monthly cost. For large, complex projects or high-growth platforms that need heavy customization and global infrastructure, it makes more sense as a starting point or a secondary provider rather than the final destination.

😠 Bravenet.com offers the WORST service!
I bought a domain name from Bravenet on 6/3/2014. I needed to actually SPEAK with a tech support person because I was having issues and unable to do anything more until those issues were resolved. I couldn't find any information on my specific problem in the Bravenet forum or anywhere else. I tried to submit a ticket, but was told that Bravenet didn't support 'free' websites. I hadn't even been able to get in to BUILD a website! There is NO telephone number listed on the website that I could see, but I did a web search and found one here, and called. The operator put me through to Customer Support...voice mail. I called back, and got voice mail again. When I called back a 3rd time, there was no answer at the main number, even though it had not closed for the day. I will NOT be doing business with Bravenet, but I will let others know of my experience.

😁 I've been exceedingly happy with Bravenet.
I have used bravenet since 2005. As an administrator on a Wordpress site and Joomla site, I prefer the ease of working with bravenet. I am rarely disappointed by their customer service as they always give prompt replies to questions and help me when I get stuck! Pricing is reasonable and apps are plentiful. I use bravesite pro.

😞 friendly staff but bad experience
I had a rubbish old site sitting on their free service for years. they removed all the free sites but notified users by email, which didn't reach yahoo, gmail or hotmail users (half of global email) and now those people have to buy a year subscription in order to get their data. Customer support was really friendly throughout, but this has left a bad taste in the mouth as we're being held to ransom. Sounds like there are better hosts out there...

😠 Avise you to not waste time and money.
I signed up with this company 8 days ago and have not been able to get them to provide the FTP they sold me. Have not been able to contact anyone other than through a service ticket support email that refuse to address the issue. They blame it on the computer and then the stand alone FTP client they suggest users download and will not provide the simple details for using any client. you can use their free site builder and it will show on the web as long as you use a sub domain instead of your own. I won't go as far as calling then a complete scam, but definitely incompetent or marginally dishonest. There is no contact method on their site except the support link, but you don't realize that until the problems happen.

😠 BRAVENET HOSTING IS A SCAM, FRAUD, CON, RIP-OFF
I have 3 different Bravenet accounts, each one dedicated to it's own website.
Mysteriously, all 3 of them went offline at the SAME TIME and said I had exceeded my bandwidth and that I needed to purchase paid hosting. Coincidence?
Nope, it's a strait up scam and I caught them in the act. There's nothing coincidental about 3 websites exceeding their bandwidth at the same time, especially since 2 of them don't use any bandwidth at all.
I would gladly take my files and move to another host, but apparently, Bravenet doesn't want me to leave because they're holding my websites hostage. I can't even access FTP to download my files unless I pay them their ransom money.
So, in further token of my appreciation for all of the great things Bravenet has done to extort money out of me, I have take the liberty upon myself to use my own "mafia like" tactics to expose these criminals. 😠 Run From Bravehost ASAP
I attempted to host with Bravehost. I started transferring my current blog over about legitimate PTC sites. Two blog posts in, my account was deleted by them. They gave me no indication why, no warnings, no anything. My account was gone, just like that. Thankfully I hadn't given up my current hosting site yet, I'm glad they did this before I gave them any money (I was going to upgrade my account once all my information was transferred over) and before I gave up on my current host. I contact their customer support, and not only have they not replied, my ticket is still "unassigned". They are the worst hosting company I've EVER dealt with and I caution you to stray from them. If you refuse to listen to this, I plead with you to at least have a back up of your data prior to posting it with them. They have no issue deleting everything suddenly without warning.

😉 I think if you're looking for a free host, you can try other hosting sites that offer more space such as Zymic which is pretty good but for the most part, if you're looking for free hosting, it's not terrible. They offer you a lot of stuff for someone who's a free member. Of course, Free sites are way too limited in what you can do with them. Of course, if you're paying for it, it's awful, go with sites like Bluehost or GoDaddy.

😁 I really wanted to try something different from free hosts because their service still felt the same even when I paid, just no advertisements. I went to bravehost for a year first when I first began my more professional websites. I loved them, but times got tough and I couldn't afford it anymore. When things got better a couple years later, I went to a different host because it was slightly above price but it looked more professional and was more well-known. Hated it, but I tried one more that someone recommended. Hated it too, so I went back to where I had first belonged, Bravenet. I have been running nearly 3 years straight with their service and have no plans to ever switch.
Bravenet does have downtime sometimes, but not for very long in my experience. Also, if you have questions you can visit their forum. 😃 I think Bravenet is great. There really is nothing else out there that has so many free features to include blog, classifieds, guest books etc. I have four free sites and use many of their features. The customer service has been pretty good....not perfect but pretty good. I usually get fast response time. The free sites offer a great deal of bandwidth and a number of options for site building. It does take awhile to figure everything out and I wish there were better tutorials but since I have been around awhile I know most of what I need to. Its only a matter of time before I upgrade to their pro which I don't find expensive. They could use a first year lowered entry fee for that and may find it beneficial to do so. I think a lot more people would upgrade to pro if they did so. The ad at the top really isn't that big of a deal. Most sites have ads at the top.

😞 Unfortunately they were the 1st hosting company I found and I was loyal to them for over 4 years. Then my eyes opened to so much more possiblities which there are out there. They have nothing to offer compared to cheaper hosting plans. They are expensive and offer very little. Unfortunately I paid a head for my hosting and when I tried to get a refund I got a huge run around.

😁 Bravehost and Bravenet are the best, seriously i have used
them for about 3 - 4 years and i hope 20 - 30 more.
They don't offer different size plans because all there plan except
the free is professional without advertisements all though you could
double your hosting if you ever needed to.
They do give you so much space, 30GB + Everything else couldn't get
much better except it don't come with a Cgi bin or have mfgg installed.
Most people won't use a Cgi bin or Mfgg anyways so i never have that
problem maybe once where i wanted to use a Cgi bin but didn't know
how so i figured out how to do the same think using Php instead.
Bravehost rock thats all i have to say, Thanks Bravehost - we love you
I would recommend Bravehost.com better known as Bravenet
to anyone looking for a professional compatible webhosting.
There so awesome i dunno you will just need to see for yourself...
