😁 For anyone starting out in the world of web development, setting up and using a hosting can be a very daunting task. This is where G-core comes in. With a streamlined setup process and straightforward controls, you will be set up and ready to go within minutes of signing up for an account. For 90% of users out there, the free version provides above and beyond what you will require from a hosting. With additional DDoS protection, a strong firewall and extremely fast caching, it takes your website from being about average to one of the best on the market.

Gcore is a global edge AI, cloud, network, and security provider headquartered in Contern, Luxembourg and active since 2014. They have grown out of a gaming and media background into a broad infrastructure platform aimed at latency-sensitive workloads such as online games, streaming services, financial applications, and modern AI deployments.
Their backbone is a large private network with more than 210 points of presence and 50+ cloud locations worldwide, backed by over 200 Tbps of total capacity and extensive peering. Traffic is carried through Tier III and Tier IV data centers, with an average global response time around tens of milliseconds. For hosting customers, this means content and applications can be placed physically close to users across Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Australia.
On the compute side, Gcore operates a broad edge cloud portfolio. Standard virtual instances (VMs) come in several families (general purpose, CPU-optimized, RAM-optimized, high frequency, etc.) with Linux and Windows images, SSD-based storage, private networking, load balancing, and free egress traffic from the cloud in many scenarios. Bare metal servers are available in numerous locations, with modern Intel Xeon platforms, 1–10 Gbit/s ports, hardware RAID, and options for additional IPs and DDoS protection. Deployment is typically fast enough for practical on-demand usage.
Gcore also runs an AI/GPU cloud, combining bare-metal and virtual machines built around NVIDIA GPUs. These resources integrate with managed Kubernetes, object storage, and logging, so training, fine-tuning, and inference workloads can run within the same environment. For organizations that want to build their own AI clouds, Gcore offers an AI Cloud Stack that turns GPU clusters into multi-tenant infrastructure under a single control plane.
On the network and content delivery side, Gcore provides a full edge stack: a global CDN, video streaming platform, Managed DNS, and FastEdge (edge functions). CDN plans include SSL, HTTP/2/3, image optimization, on-demand WAAP (web application & API protection) integration, and an anycast architecture across their 210+ PoPs. Managed DNS is anycast as well, with GeoDNS, advanced load balancing, DNSSEC (beta), health checks, and integrations with Terraform, Kubernetes ExternalDNS, Certbot, and OctoDNS.
Security is a separate product family. Gcore offers L3/L4 DDoS protection, a WAAP solution bundling WAF, application-layer DDoS, bot management, and API security, and DDoS-protected DNS. These components can be layered on top of cloud, hosting, and CDN, which is attractive for gaming and financial services where uptime under attack is as critical as pure performance.
Traditional hosting is covered through virtual dedicated servers (VDS/VPS) and dedicated servers under the Hosting section. VDS plans use KVM virtualization and SSD storage, with options for IPv6, firewalls, snapshots, and OS templates. Dedicated servers target more demanding applications, providing full root access, IPMI, optional advanced DDoS protection, and a 99.9% SLA in many locations. There is no classic low-budget "cPanel shared hosting" offer; the portfolio is clearly aimed at developers, DevOps teams, and companies comfortable managing their own stack.
Overall, Gcore is a multi-product infrastructure vendor than a simple hosting provider. Someone looking for a single WordPress site may find the platform overpowered, but businesses building global applications, SaaS platforms, or AI-powered services benefit from having CDN, cloud, AI and security sitting on the same edge network and in the same account.
💰 Price & Cost
Pricing is usage-driven and modular, with a mix of pay-as-you-go and monthly commitments depending on product.
For the CDN, public prices are broken into several plans:
- Free CDN at €0/month with 1 TB of traffic included, 1 billion HTTP requests, and access to the global 210+ PoP network.
- Start at €35/month with 1.5 TB traffic, lower overage rates per GB, and the same PoP coverage.
- Volume at €1200/month including 300 TB of traffic and aggressive overage pricing suitable for large media or gaming customers.
- Overages and extra request charges are clearly listed per GB and per 10,000 requests, and prices exclude VAT.
FastEdge (edge functions) starts from a free plan with 1 million calls, while paid plans (for example €5/month Pro tier) raise call quotas and limits. Managed DNS has a free tier plus a low-cost Pro plan (a few euros per month) and a custom Enterprise tier, all with unlimited zones and varying request and health-check quotas.
Cloud virtual instances are billed on a pay-as-you-go basis, with rates shown per month and per hour, in EUR and USD depending on account settings. Entry-level VMs start in the low tens of euros per month, while high-frequency or resource-heavy instances scale up accordingly. GPU instances are billed per hour and can become expensive at scale, as expected for NVIDIA-based workloads, but the pricing tables are explicit.
Bare metal and hosting dedicated servers are usually billed monthly, with some configurations starting around the lower mid-double-digit euro range per month and climbing up for more powerful CPUs, more RAM, and higher bandwidth allocations. VDS pricing starts very low (there is a "starter" KVM plan positioned as a trial-friendly entry point), which can be appealing for developers wanting to get familiar with the network or to host smaller services.
In terms of free usage, the CDN, Managed DNS, and some edge components offer free tiers or 14-day trials, often limited either by time or by allocated traffic (e.g., 14 days or 300 GB for certain network products). That gives a realistic chance to test performance from multiple regions before committing serious spend.
Regarding payments, Gcore supports major bank cards (Visa, Mastercard, and others) and PayPal, with documentation also referencing bank transfer and additional options in some regions. Billing happens in EUR or USD, with VAT added based on the customer’s jurisdiction and tax status.
On refunds and money-back guarantees, Gcore follows a more enterprise-oriented pattern rather than a classic hosting "30-day money-back" promise. Their billing documentation focuses on account balances, prepayments, and post-paid usage, with refunds typically applied as credits to the account balance and handled via support tickets. Anyone expecting a simple, unconditional consumer refund policy should read the Master Services Agreement and billing documentation carefully before significant prepayments.
Pricing in general is transparent and granular, but the sheer number of products means the cost structure is more complex than a basic shared hosting provider. For teams familiar with cloud billing models, this is manageable; for pure beginners, it may feel overwhelming.
🏢 Data Center
Gcore runs a substantial global infrastructure. The public footprint includes:
- 210+ PoPs worldwide for CDN, DNS, and edge functions.
- 50+ cloud locations where virtual instances and associated services can be deployed.
- Data centers distributed across six continents, covering Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Africa, and Australia.
- Network capacity exceeding 200 Tbps and peering with roughly 14,000+ networks, with an average response time near 30 ms globally.
The infrastructure relies heavily on Tier III and Tier IV data centers with redundant power and multi-path connectivity. Many locations reside in well-known carrier-neutral facilities, with additional presence in strategic markets like Luxembourg, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, London, Paris, Dubai, Istanbul, São Paulo, Chicago, Ashburn, Santa Clara, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Sydney, Johannesburg, and others.
Gcore is having partners with major global infrastructure:
Digital Realty: A key strategic partner providing the global digital infrastructure that allows Gcore to scale AI and edge computing services across regions.
Equinix: Gcore operates as a reseller partner, utilizing Equinix’s reliable Tier III and Tier IV facilities to maintain low-latency connections worldwide.
Northern Data Group / northerndata.de / taigacloud.com / ardentdc.com: Partnered with Gcore to build an "Intelligence Delivery Network" specifically for intensive AI workloads.
Ezditek / ezditek.com:: A joint venture to establish AI-focused infrastructure in Saudi Arabia.
From a reliability and compliance standpoint, Gcore emphasizes certifications:
- ISO 27001 for information security management.
- PCI DSS compliance for handling payment data safely.
- Alignment with GDPR for personal data processing and storage, with a clear focus on EU data residency options.
Several cloud and AI products explicitly mention 99.9% uptime SLAs, and DDoS and some other security services target even higher availability (up to 99.99% in certain documentation). While these figures vary slightly by product, the overall approach is clearly SLA-driven and aimed at enterprise workloads rather than best-effort hosting.
Backup and restore capabilities, encryption in transit and at rest, firewalling, intrusion detection, and multi-factor authentication for control panel access are also part of the infrastructure story. For customers with regulatory requirements, the combination of European headquarters, GDPR focus, and formal certifications is a strong point.
✍️ Customer Support
Gcore’s support model has a clear tiered structure that depends on the product and plan.
For entry-level CDN and DNS plans, support can be limited to the knowledge base and email, especially on the free tier. As you move into paid and enterprise tiers, support scales up to 24/7 availability via email, chat, and phone, which is explicitly listed on the pricing pages.
Across the platform, customers have access to:
- A Help Center with articles covering cloud, hosting, network, and security topics.
- Detailed product documentation and API references.
- A public status page for monitoring incidents and maintenance.
- A ticket system integrated with the customer portal.
Technical support is available in English and, for documentation and help center content, also in languages such as German, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese. Office presence in Europe and Asia further supports global time zones.
It is important, especially for hosting and cloud, to understand the support boundaries. Gcore focuses on the underlying infrastructure: network, hypervisor, hardware, platform services, and their own managed components. Operating system administration, application configuration, and code-level troubleshooting remain the customer’s responsibility unless a separate managed service agreement is in place. That is common in the cloud and edge infrastructure space but different from some traditional managed hosting providers.
Feedback visible online often praises performance and network quality, while some critical comments touch on the learning curve, the complexity of the platform, or expectations around how far support will go on OS or application issues. For technically experienced teams, the documentation and 24/7 channels are usually sufficient; less technical users may need time to adapt.
🔨 Control Panel
Gcore uses its own customer portal and hosting control panel.
From a single login, customers can:
- Manage cloud resources: create and destroy virtual instances, attach storage volumes, configure networks and load balancers, and spin up Kubernetes clusters or AI/GPU instances.
- Configure bare metal and hosting servers: power control, OS reinstall, IPMI access (where available), firewall rules, and IP management.
- Set up and monitor CDN, FastEdge, and Managed DNS: origins, caching rules, georouting, health checks, SSL certificates, and logs.
- Configure security products: DDoS protection profiles, WAAP policies, and protected endpoints.
- Handle billing and payments, view invoices, adjust payment methods, and monitor usage.
For developers and DevOps teams, Gcore integrates strongly with automation tools: there are public APIs, SDKs, Terraform modules, and integrations with Kubernetes ExternalDNS, Certbot, OctoDNS, and other tools listed in the product pages. This makes the platform comfortable for infrastructure-as-code workflows.
The trade-off is that newcomers coming from typical shared hosting with cPanel might find the Gcore portal more complex at first. However, for modern cloud-native setups, the control panel is powerful and keeps everything—AI, cloud, network, and security—in a single environment.
🎯 Conclusion
Gcore is a full-stack edge infrastructure provider rather than a classic web host. The combination of a 210+ PoP network, 50+ cloud locations, strong peering, and integrated security makes it particularly attractive for:- Latency-sensitive workloads such as online games, live streaming, and trading platforms.
- AI/ML projects that need GPU capacity across Europe and beyond, with modern orchestration and data-sovereignty options.
- SaaS providers and enterprises wanting CDN, cloud, DNS, and security under one vendor and one portal.
Strengths include:
- Global reach with strong performance and large network capacity.
- A broad product portfolio covering AI, cloud, hosting, CDN, streaming, DNS, and advanced security.
- Emphasis on compliance and data protection (ISO 27001, PCI DSS, GDPR).
- Transparent pricing tables, free or trial tiers for key services, and free egress in many cloud scenarios.
Potential drawbacks:
- No simple shared hosting plan for non-technical beginners; everything assumes some level of sysadmin or DevOps skill.
- The platform is complex, with many services and pricing dimensions to understand before committing fully.
- Refunds are based on billing rules and account credits rather than a straightforward consumer-style money-back guarantee.
For individuals who just need a cheap place to host a small site, Gcore is probably overkill. For companies building or scaling serious online services—especially those that care about latency, European data jurisdiction, AI infrastructure, and integrated security—Gcore stands out as a strong, modern option that can replace or complement the big hyperscalers.
