😁 There isn't a better host out there...no, really, there isn't.
As is the case with one reviewer, I have been with Sectorlink for a very long time....13.5 years. I have also used several other hosts that clients have selected over that period of time, and it's not even close. The price/feature combination is very reasonable, and their support is in house and top notch. I'm the type of guy who asks difficult questions of any support (I'm not the guy who says "I can't print") and they have always gotten to the answer; in most cases, they've gotten to it in one email or phone call. There have been VERY few things that have taken a few tries, but that's going to happen, and as long as something gets solved in a reasonable amount of time that's all I ask. 99% of things are solved within an hour.

The only problem that I have personally is that there isn't another competitor that even comes close to the service levels they offer. It would be nice to see some real competition in the industry in the area that matters more than the price (i.e. the [read more...]

(3*) 🔧 Services: Web HostingDomain Registration Own datacenter
⇔ Redirected from 4netaccess.com
Sectorlink is a privately owned U.S. hosting provider that has been active since 1996. They operate out of Flint, Michigan, where they run their own data center and network under the Sectorlink L.L.C. name. Instead of reselling capacity from larger vendors, they own and operate the infrastructure themselves and keep a relatively small in-house team focused on hosting and related services. The website, control panels and support are in English, and pricing is in U.S. dollars, which fits their primarily North American customer base.

They combine classic web hosting with more advanced infrastructure and even digital marketing services. The core hosting portfolio covers cloud web hosting, traditional shared hosting with cPanel or Plesk, virtual private servers (VPS), managed dedicated servers and data center colocation. Around that, they offer domain registration, SSL certificates, standalone email hosting and a bundled website builder with hosting. For small businesses that also need online visibility, there is a digital marketing arm handling SEO consulting, pay-per-click campaigns, programmatic display advertising, social media marketing and website design.

For typical websites and smaller business projects, the main product is cloud web hosting. Instead of running each account on a single shared server, this platform uses a clustered architecture managed through Sectorlink’s own Cloud Control interface. Websites are isolated from each other, resources can be spread across multiple servers, and the service carries a 99.95% uptime guarantee. Cloud plans include SmarterMail-based email, a drag-and-drop site builder and access to a large catalog of one-click applications such as WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, Magento and many other CMS or e-commerce tools.

Customers who prefer the familiar feel of traditional shared hosting can choose between cPanel web hosting on Linux or Plesk hosting for Windows. These plans are more conventional: you manage your site, databases, email and DNS through cPanel or Plesk, with script installers and resource allocations that suit personal sites, blogs and smaller corporate pages that do not yet need the flexibility of the cloud cluster.

When a project outgrows shared hosting, Sectorlink offers cloud servers (VPS) with Linux and Windows templates. Entry-level configurations come with dedicated RAM, SSD storage and unmetered bandwidth, and you can scale up to larger "CloudPod" instances with more CPU, memory and disk space. Root or administrator access is provided so customers can install their own software stacks or control panels, and the VPS platform inherits the same 99.95% uptime target and 24/7 support as the shared services.

At the high end, Sectorlink runs managed dedicated servers and bare metal solutions for applications that demand full physical hardware. They differentiate between self-managed, managed and fully managed service levels. Self-managed boxes suit experienced administrators who want total control, while managed and fully managed options add operating system installation, updates, security patching, monitoring and troubleshooting performed by Sectorlink’s technicians. This allows businesses to choose how much day-to-day server work they want to outsource.

Colocation is another significant pillar. Companies can colocate a single tower server on shelf space, lease individual rack units or take full cabinets in Sectorlink’s data center. Colocation plans are built around the same 99.95% uptime SLA, with high-capacity uplinks, unmetered data transfer and remote hands services for tasks that need physical access, such as power cycling a server, swapping cables or checking status lights. This makes the Flint facility usable even for customers who are not local.

Beyond pure hosting, Sectorlink bundles a website builder with hosting aimed at non-technical users who want to launch a site quickly using templates and drag-and-drop tools. Email services are powered by SmarterMail, giving businesses webmail, calendars and other groupware features. Combined with the in-house marketing team, this makes Sectorlink interesting for smaller companies that want one provider to cover infrastructure, email, website building and online promotion under a single umbrella.

💰 Price & Cost

Sectorlink prices its services in the mid-range of the market rather than chasing ultra-low introductory offers. Cloud and small-business web hosting typically sit in the single-digit dollar range per month for entry plans when billed monthly, with discounts available for longer billing cycles. For a business that values a stable provider with its own data center, the pricing is reasonable but not "budget hosting" territory.

VPS and cloud server plans start at around ten U.S. dollars per month for basic Linux instances with 1 GB of RAM, SSD storage and unmetered bandwidth. From there, costs scale in a fairly linear way as you increase CPU cores, memory, storage or add Windows licensing. Managed dedicated servers involve a higher monthly bill but remain competitive for fully managed hardware with strong connectivity, especially compared to large hyperscale providers once equivalent management and support are factored in.

Colocation pricing begins at a relatively modest monthly fee for a single tower server on shared shelf space and increases with the amount of rack space, power allocation and bandwidth required. Domains, SSL certificates and other extras are sold separately, so customers can keep the base hosting plan lean and add only what they need.

A key financial safety net is the 30-day money-back guarantee. New customers on web hosting, cloud web hosting, cloud servers (VPS), colocation and dedicated servers can cancel within the first month and receive a refund on hosting fees. This makes it much easier to test Sectorlink’s platform without long-term risk. Payments can be made by major credit cards, and many customers also use PayPal for convenience when handling ongoing invoices.

🏢 Data Center

Sectorlink’s infrastructure is anchored in its own U.S. data center at 512 Buckham Alley in Flint, Michigan, which also serves as the company’s headquarters. Servers, networking equipment and colocation racks are housed there, and the IP space is directly allocated to Sectorlink, so customers deal with the actual operator of the hardware and network rather than a reseller.

The cloud hosting platform uses multiple servers under the hood instead of a single box per account. Websites can be distributed across the cluster, which helps smooth out load spikes and allows maintenance to happen with minimal disruption. This architecture underpins the 99.95% uptime guarantee, meaning only a small amount of downtime per month is tolerated before service credits apply.

Colocation services are built on enterprise-grade data center standards. Available uplinks go up to 10, 40 or even 100 Gbit, and colocation customers can get dual A/B power feeds to their equipment for power redundancy. The environment is structured to support stringent compliance needs, with features aligned to frameworks such as PCI DSS, SOC 2, HIPAA and ISO 27001, coupled with 24/7 CCTV coverage, extended video storage, continuous environmental monitoring and a staffed NOC around the clock.

From this Michigan base, Sectorlink provides hosting coverage for all U.S. states and territories and an international customer mix. Latency is naturally best for North American visitors, but many overseas projects also run reliably from the Flint data center, especially when paired with proper caching and content optimization.

✍️ Customer Support

Customer support is one of Sectorlink’s stronger points. They offer a 24/7/365 support model, with a toll-free number for U.S. and Canadian customers, an international phone line, live chat and a ticket system integrated into the client portal. For non-urgent questions there is a searchable knowledge base, and the blog regularly discusses topics like VPS usage, colocation strategy, cloud hosting trends and managed server best practices.

In day-to-day use, responses tend to be personal and technical rather than scripted. Long-term users often mention that they can talk directly with staff who understand DNS, mail servers, database issues and application performance, which is important for businesses that do not have full-time sysadmins. As with any provider, there are mixed experiences, but Sectorlink generally maintains a reputation for solid, responsive support rather than a barebones help desk.

For dedicated and colocation customers, remote hands services are available. Technicians can perform physical tasks such as rebooting a server, moving network cables, swapping drives or checking console messages, which is critical for customers who are located far from Flint and rely on the data center team to be their "hands" in the rack.

🔨 Control Panel

Sectorlink’s cloud web hosting is managed through their proprietary Cloud Control panel. This interface lets customers manage multiple sites, domains, databases, SSL certificates and SmarterMail-based email accounts from a single screen. It also integrates an application installer with hundreds of pre-packaged platforms, making it straightforward to deploy WordPress or other CMSs without manual uploads and database configuration. Cloud Control exposes usage statistics and is designed to work with the underlying clustered infrastructure rather than a single machine.

For customers who prefer standard tools, traditional shared hosting plans are offered with cPanel (Linux) and Plesk (Windows). These are well-known control panels that handle files, FTP, MySQL or MSSQL databases, cron jobs, DNS and mailbox administration. Existing site owners migrating from other hosts can usually move over without changing their workflow, which reduces friction.

Email services run on SmarterMail, and the knowledge base contains clear setup instructions for common clients such as Microsoft Outlook. Between Cloud Control, cPanel, Plesk and SmarterMail, Sectorlink covers most control panel preferences encountered in small and mid-sized business environments.

🎯 Conclusion

Overall, Sectorlink stands out as a technically focused hosting provider with a long history, its own U.S. data center and a portfolio that stretches from shared cloud hosting to full colocation. The 99.95% uptime SLA, 30-day money-back guarantee, unmetered bandwidth on many plans and 24/7 in-house support give the service a mature, infrastructure-centric feel rather than a commodity shared hosting vibe.

The main strengths are infrastructure ownership, the flexibility to grow from small cloud plans into VPS, managed dedicated servers or colocation, and the availability of experienced staff to assist with more complex configurations. The bundled website builder, business email and digital marketing services also make sense for smaller companies that want a single provider to cover both hosting and online growth.

There are trade-offs. Pricing is noticeably higher than the cheapest shared hosts, and everything is oriented around a U.S. location, U.S. currency and English-only interfaces. International projects that require European or Asia-Pacific data centers, or hobby sites looking for rock-bottom pricing, may find better fits elsewhere. For small and mid-sized businesses that value reliability, personal support and the reassurance that their host owns the underlying infrastructure, Sectorlink is a credible option to put on the shortlist.

📋 Sectorlink News / Press release

Sectorlink Offers Innovative, New, Cluster Based Web Services - Sectorlink, a recognized leader in the web hosting and dedicated server market, is offering its clients cluster based web service, a brand new service never seen before in the world of web hosting. Cluster based web services use multiple servers to spread hosting services on, so that there is no one single point of failure in the event of a crash or data catastrophe.
“Traditionally web hosting services are all on one server, which includes everything from your web email, to hosting, to analytics. If this server fails, you lose all of your services,” explains Jason Eisert, CEO of Sectorlink. “With cluster based web services if a server fails, you would only lose one part of your service/data.”
Essentially, this innovative new service is a way for companies to prepare for the worst. It's the equivalent of a company deciding not to put all of its eggs in one basket. That way, in the event that something goes wrong, all is not lost.
This new service also simplifies things. As Eisert [...]

😠 Only sign up with them if you have a credit card you can cancel after you've moved on, as they keep on drawing money, even after NUMEROUS attempts to contact them and stop them doing so.
First there's a complete mixup about how to do the cancellation, and then they cancel but keep charging.

Support is also very poor, as approximately half of all emails sent to them are ignored. I don't know what more I could have done.
